Alex Heard

As the #1 player on the UConn men's golf team,  I'm a solid Division I competitive golfer, with more than 350 tournaments worth of experience since age 6. I grew up as a well-rounded athlete who played middle school football and basketball and Little League baseball in addition to golf. But above all... I am a golfer,

Who I Am

I'm a Golfer

  • I'm a team player. I love the individual nature of golf, but I really love being part of a team. Prior to college, I played middle school team golf, varsity high school team golf, and Ryder-Cup style team golf on the BallenIsles Cup. I was varsity MVP in 8th, 9th, 11th, and 12th grades (no season in 2020 due to Covid). As a high school senior in 2022, I led our team to the state championships where I finished in 5th place, and led our team to a 4th place team finish. I love the pressure and satisfaction of helping my team.

  • I love to compete. In classes, camps, skills challenges, and almost anything, I really enjoy competition, and I do my best when things get tough. I love match play, and am undefeated in collegiate match play in both 2024 and 2025. As a junior, I was a quarterfinalist in the 2021 FSGA Boys State Match Play Championships.

  • I know how to win. I have won at many levels, including collegiate, local, regional, state, and international. I won the Big East Conference Championships at 11-under par, 6-stroke victory. I won the Florida Junior Tour event at 4-under par. I won the 2022 South Florida PGA High School Championship, firing a 5-under par 69-70. I knew I needed to birdie my final hole to win the 2021 high school regional - and I did, firing a 3-under par 69. I won the opening event of the 2020 SFPGA Champions Tour overall 13-18 division by 11 strokes. I have won dozens of local tournaments, three US Kids regional championships, the US Kids Florida State championship, and the Doral-Publix International. I won six events on the SFPGA Prep Tour, and won Player of the Year. I won POY again the following year in the SFPGA Challenge Tour by winning the final 5 events of the season. I know how to close the deal and win.

  • I know how to go low. I have shot par or better in 26 of 51 collegiate rounds played since Fall of 2023, with a low score of 66. In 10 Minor League Golf Tour events since 2024, I have 1 win and 3 top-5 finishes. Prior to college, I scored under par in tournaments 34 times. In US Kids local tours, I shot 33 or less more than 20 times. At the Doral-Publix, I shot a 63 to win. At a Hurricane Tour event, I shot 68 and won on my first time at the course. I shot a 67 in a US Kids event, including a  6-under 30 on the front 9. I fired 9 birdies in my final round in an FJT event. I shot a 23 for 9 holes on a par 30 course in a middle school match.

I'm a student

I was a “straight-A” student through middle school and earned a 4.2 GPA in my freshman year of high school at American Heritage School Boca/Delray. I graduated Boca Raton High School as an "A" student with a 4.5 weighted GPA. I earned my AICE diploma with merit, and the President’s Education Award for Outstanding Academic Excellence, and was inducted into the National Honor Society. I won the school, county, and Florida state National History Day competition and defended my exhibit in Washington, D.C.

I give back

I was the youngest winner of the Pepsi Little People's Spirit of Giving award for my charitable efforts.  I won the SFPGA Birdie Club award in 2016, 2017, and 2020, raising a total of more than $15,000 for the SFPGA Charitable Foundation. I also helped raise money through golf donations to build two schools in Jamaica, and traveled there in 2018 and 2019 to assist with the finishing and grand opening ceremonies. I run in the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation events, and I volunteer at our annual Little (Big) Break skills challenge and our Family Golf Day charity fundraiser.
